Started by sorting out Friendly Fixtures between clubs; not many fixtures have been notified for pre-season. Those clubs that do will stand a good chance of getting appointed umpires. It seems weird that clubs are arranging pre-season fixtures, where no doubt they are getting up to speed for the league season ahead, but they give little thought to getting DHUA appointed umpires! Are they planning to play without umpires or are they going to use their own?
Liaised with the DHUA Treasurer and DHUA Auditor on the association accounts, which are to be presented at the AGM on 18 September and which are now almost complete.
Emailed committee about a pre-AGM DHUA Management Committee meeting, 7.30 pm Monday 5 September at Bovey Tracey, to discuss the AGM at 11 am on 18 September 2011 at ISCA HC Clubhouse.
Also dealt with having a Welfare Officer for DHUA; a suggestion from previous DHUA Welfare Officer is to have a joint one with DHA, which seems to be eminently sensible.
The review of inactive Level1 Umpires and Level 1 Candidates will take place at the start of September and be complete for the AGM.
Finally, had a brief meeting with Julia Gill (who was in Plymouth) about the elite Devon Umpire Coaching pre-season programme.
