It is now time to carry out the annual review of inactive umpires and Level 1 Candidates who have failed to qualify in the 24 months allowed by England Hockey; this will be conducted by the DHUA Level 1 Register and Membership Secretary.

I have had a few emails about the future Level 1 Umpire Award courses. Incidentally, from the 2008/9 season to the 2011/11 season the number of qualified Level 1 Umpires in Devon has increased by 23.73% as a result of the policies instigated by DHUA under it’s ‘Reinvigorating Devon Umpiring’ programme. This has meant that the number of umpires per Devon league hockey team has increased from 1.72 umpires to 2.16. The aim is to increase this to 3 over the next few seasons.
