Removal of Inactive Level One Umpires

DCHUA unilaterally decided to give umpires who failed to fulfil the required number of games for 2006/2007 until 1 September 2007 to complete their required games to maintain their active status. Those umpires who are inactive were contacted by email several weeks ago concerning this. Some umpires have since updated their umpiring history.

Just to remind you that England Hockey states that the ”Level 1 Award is the passport to umpiring competitive hockey in England and is aimed at those who wish to take their umpiring seriously and officiate in local leagues and club games/events. The Award involves four hours of classroom tuition, three unsupervised practice games, an examination paper and a practical assessment on an 11 a-side game. Each County is responsible for it's own register of Level One umpires and courses are regularly organised. Once accredited, Level One Umpires are required to umpire a minimum of five games a year. If they are player umpires, the requirement is reduced to three.”

Umpires who have not fulfilled this requirement, and who have not alerted DCHUA to the reasons why are now being formally warned that DCHUA will be making them inactive on 1 September 2007.

If you have any commnets on this then post them.
